As the old saying goes, “the things we do for love…” Well, as it turns out, one of the things Americans are willing to do for love? Move.
Professional moving company Bellhops recently analyzed over 2 million online conversations to identify the reasons why people in the United States move. And one of the major themes that emerged was moving for love—and luckily, it seems to have (mostly) worked out.
According to the survey, 70 percent of the people said their love-related relocation was successful; 60 percent of people who moved for love are now married or in a long-term relationship—and 57 percent said they would move for love again if necessary. And that includes going the distance; nearly half of people who moved for love (44 percent) moved more than 500 miles to be with their significant other.
The Takeaway:
So, what does that mean for you? Love is as common a reason to move as any, so if you’re thinking about relocating for love, follow your heart—statistics show there’s a good chance it’ll be a good move for you!
